Shootings, contract killings, organized crime: The biker scene has become more aggressive and dangerous in Germany as well. What began in the 1960s with individual Hells Angels chapters has long since become a world of rival groups, constantly at odds not only with the police and authorities, but also with their competitors.
The scene changed dramatically in the late 1990s. Small clubs were often taken over by larger ones, mostly Hells Angels and Bandidos, or forced to provide support, frequently under threat of violence. In this heated atmosphere, the young journalist Michael Ahlsdorf, working as an editor at Bikers News, a magazine for biker clubs, got to know all the leading bikers, experienced the power struggles firsthand, and found himself in dangerous situations.
As much as the hierarchical structures, ego trips, and excesses of violence occasionally disturbed him, his fascination with this unconventional subculture, with its rituals and its own set of rules, never faltered. A true insider report: ruthless, open and provocative!
