Ricardo Lange, an intensive care nurse, loves his job – and suffers because of it. So much so that he vents his frustration about the shortcomings in the care sector on Facebook and goes public. He gained nationwide fame when he was invited by Jens Spahn to the Federal Press Conference, where he spoke about everyday life in hospitals: the appalling working conditions, the constant physical and emotional strain, and the certainty that politicians aren’t really interested in the issue. He touches on many sore points, ponders what steps need to be taken and by whom, and seeks practical, effective solutions, because “this crisis must have its silver linings too”.
